Imperial Bank and Trust: Glass Lobby—
The Offices of South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa, CA.
Architect: Murphy/Jahn
Structural Engineer: W & W Glass Systems, Inc.
This unique glass enclosure forms a
seismic joint between two buildings of
a California bank.

The wall and roof structures have two
very different cable systems. The roof has large stainless cables for which TriPyramid designed and manufactured adjustable connectors.

The wall trusses have special TriPyramid
designed struts and turnbuckles which
clamp both the horizontal and vertical cables. A universal ball joint between the strut and glazing attachment minimizes bending stresses in the glass in anticipation of earthquake movement.
